HOW LEADING LIBRARIES SWITCHED TO OUR SUSTAINABLE BOOK COVERING

Many environmentally conscious libraries have already switched to Bioguard80®, collectively contributing to the removal of over 10 metric tonnes of toxic microplastics from our ecosystems. Imagine how much plastic we could remove from our soils and waterways if every Australian library switched to FULLY biodegradable Bioguard80®.

Acknowledging concerns voiced by some library staff regarding the texture of Bioguard80® compared to traditional plastic coverings, it’s important to note that while there is a discernible difference, numerous libraries have successfully transitioned and observed that books maintain their aesthetic appeal on display. Crucially, customers value the progressive, sustainable approach adopted by their libraries.

The distinctive grain in Bioguard80® serves a critical function as the active biodegradable component. Educating both staff and customers about this feature is crucial to ensure they understand the positive impact achievable by choosing Bioguard80®.

HOW THESE LIBRARIES OVERCAME “THE TEXTURE”

Early adopters of Bioguard80® were initially hesitant to convert, as they were concerned about the slight texture.

They weighed up the environmental benefits and switched. To date, customers love it – and they have not received complaints – only compliments!

These short clips explain how libraries switched – and have never looked back:

CERTIFICATIONS  – WITHOUT THEM – HOW WILL YOU KNOW THE ENVIRONMENTAL BENEFITS?

Bioguard80® is the only book covering in the world that is certified to be FULLY biodegradable. Some coverings promote themselves as “environmentally friendly”, or “sustainable” or even as “biodegradable” – these all leave toxic microplastics as they are not certified fully biodegradable.

Bioguard80® is the only book covering certified FULLY biodegradable – which means no toxic microplastics. Worms eat it.

International testing is the only method that can confirm that book covering will FULLY biodegrade. If you come across a covering that is promoting itself as sustainable or biodegradable, eco friendly, organic or green… ask to see the certification to back up these claims. To date, we’ve yet to find any other book covering that is certified – whichmeans, they may leave toxic microplastics in our soils and waterways.

Bioguard80® is certified to FULLY biodegrade- leaving NO toxic microplastics.

Our certifications include:

  • ISO 14855-1 – International standard for Biodegradability of plastic materials
  • ASTM 6954 – Biodegradability in compost environments
  • ASTM 5511D – Biodegradability in landfill environments
